He took part in many an early campaign under Mah&#257r&#257j&#257 Ra&#7751j&#299t Si&#7749gh. When D&#299w&#257n R&#257m Di&#257l was killed in Haz&#257r&#257 in 1820, Amar Si&#7749gh was appointed governor of that country. While engaged in curbing the activities of the turbulent and unruly Af<u>gh</u>&#257n tribes, he was killed treacherously in an ambush.
